This device allows you to control the power supplied to light bulbs (filament or halogen), transformers with low voltage primary, AC motor speed (drills, fans ... etc), electric heaters via a knob potentiometer provided. By placing a rectifier (not supplied) after the module, it is also possible to control DC loads.
The maximum load is 10A continuous on 12V AC (50-60Hz) with the device installed on the heatsink not supplied, otherwise without the heatsink it is possible to use the device with a maximum load of 4A. The device is ideal for resistive and inductive loads.
The knob potentiometer supplied allows direct control via knob of the power from 0% to 90% approximately for the voltage of 12V AC.
The device, excluding the potentiometer supplied, is installed in a plastic container with an aluminum rear part that can be installed on a heat sink or metal casing.
The module can be used with other maximum voltages by replacing the ohmic value of the supplied potentiometer:
Maximum voltage 24V AC using linear 100Kohm potentiometer
Maximum voltage 48V AC using linear 220Kohm potentiometer

Depending on the load the module heats up. Heat is dissipated by the aluminum plate at the bottom of the module. Under certain circumstances it must be mounted on a cooling surface according to the installation instructions. It is important that the module is fixed with 4 M3 screws (or 2.9mm metal screws) on the cooling surface. This can be the back wall of a metal enclosure. The aluminum plate on the bottom of the module must not bend, do not use larger screws, and do not drill larger holes. The screw heads must rest on the module plate, instead of the plastic edge of the module! During assembly, the module must not be curled up (if the ground is not flat). The reason: inside the aluminum base of the module the thin insulation layer is directly soldered on the SMD electronic components. Make sure that the maximum expected temperature (as specified in the module description) is not exceeded. If not, apply a larger cooling plate.
