MANUAL

Charge controller designed to be connected between a 12 V / DC solar panel and charge 1 or 2 lead-acid batteries, avoiding overcharging. If 2 batteries are connected, the charging current reaches 8A and they are charged separately. The battery with lower voltage receives more and more charge current by balancing both batteries and obtaining the same charge. With LED display and high charging capacity: max. 8A with two batteries or 16A with two batteries.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Input voltage: solar photovoltaic panels with voltage from 15V to 30V DC in open circuit and full sun, rated voltage 12V DC

  • Maximum total charge current maximum 16A (or 2 batteries at maximum 8A). In the case of a 16A battery, the outputs of the device must be connected in parallel.

  • Connections for 1 or 2 12V batteries. In the case of a single battery, both outputs must be connected in parallel to the battery

  • LED display for fully charged battery indication for each output and fully charged battery indication LED

  • Cooling required through heatsink (not supplied) in case of currents greater than 4A. In this case the module must be connected with suitable screws (not supplied) to a heat sink with a surface of at least 300 square cm (not supplied) in the lower metal part.

  • Charge regulator designed for use with LEAD BATTERIES

  • It is necessary to use a 16A safety fuse (not supplied)

  • Charge activation at battery voltage lower than 12.9V (5% tolerance)

  • Battery charger deactivation (battery charged) at a voltage of approximately 14.2V (tolerance 5%)

  • Current absorbed by the device

  • Reverse current protection (no external diodes needed)

  • Size approx. 87 x 60 x 33mm (with heatsink mounting base)

INSTALLATION NOTES HEAT SINK (if necessary)

Depending on the load the module heats up. The heat is dissipated from the aluminum plate at the bottom of the module. Under certain circumstances it must be mounted on a cooling surface according to installation instructions. It is important that the module is fixed with 4 M3 screws (or 2.9mm metal screws) on the cooling surface. This may be the back wall of a metal casing. The aluminum plate on the bottom of the module must not bend, do not use larger screws and do not drill larger holes. The screw heads must rest on the plate of the module, rather than on the plastic edge of the module! During assembly, the module should not be curled up (if the ground is not flat). The reason: on the inside of the aluminum base of the module the thin insulating layer are directly soldered on the electronic SMD components. When the aluminum floor of the module curls up, the joints and the module start loosen and the module is defective. Please ensure that the maximum specified temperature (as specified in the module's description) is not exceeded. Otherwise apply a larger cooling plate.
