The ATC-810 is a compact and inexpensive converter that adds an RS232 serial interface to a PC with a USB port. It uses an FTDI chipset and a DB9 male (DTE) connector for connecting serial devices.
Once connected to the PC and the FTDI VCP driver is installed, the device is recognized as a virtual serial port, which can be used by applications that communicate via COM. Automatic driver detection and installation depends on the operating system and its configuration.
The converter supports standard DB9 serial signals and is suitable for connecting instruments, controllers, scales, terminals and other equipment with a compatible RS232 interface.
The USB interface is compatible with USB 2.0 Full Speed at 12 Mbit/s , while the serial speed reaches 460.8 kbit/s . The RS232 port features 15 kV ESD protection and 600 W transient surge protection on the TXD and RXD signals , also useful in industrial applications.
FTDI drivers are available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 , as well as macOS . On Linux, FTDI support is built into compatible kernels and distributions. The serial port appears as COM on Windows and as a serial device on the Linux or macOS system.
FTDI also provides drivers for legacy Windows CE platforms. For each system, you must use the appropriate driver for your operating system version, architecture, and chipset.
Suitable for PCs and industrial systems requiring an additional RS232 port. It can also be used with Raspberry Pis running Linux. Connecting RS485 or RS422 devices requires an additional interface converter, not included.
