Expansion shield for Raspberry Pi based on the integrated MCP23017 which makes available eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs with relative status LEDs. Each of the eight outputs drives a relay to which external loads can be connected. The I2C bus is used to access the shield's inputs / outputs. The shield address can be configured using a three-position DIP Switch, so as to allow the connection and management of up to eight shields at the same time, each with a different address; this allows to expand the system up to a total of 64 inputs and 64 outputs that can be driven individually. It uses the Wiring-PI2, an Open Source library under GNU LGPLv3 license that can be used in Python, which allows you to access the individual inputs and drive them in a very simple way.
