The set includes a 21-button infrared remote control and a small breakout board with a 38kHz IR receiver HX1838 or VS1838 , a handy solution for adding remote control to electronic projects and microcontroller-based systems.

The receiver can be easily paired with Arduino , Raspberry Pi or other microcontrollers and used, for example, to control robots, lights, electronic devices and automation systems.

21-button IR remote control

The remote control has 21 keys , including a numeric keypad, directional buttons and additional function controls.

It uses NEC encoding and transmits the address bytes 0x00 and 0xBF , followed by a data code between 0 and 26 , skipping the values 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, and 23 .

The transmission distance can reach 8 meters . Actual range may vary depending on the surrounding environment, receiver sensitivity, and usage conditions.

38 kHz IR receiver

The breakout board integrates a HX1838 or VS1838 IR receiver operating at 38 kHz .

It can be powered by a voltage between 3.3 and 5V , making it suitable for integration into numerous electronic projects.

Consumption is particularly low:

  • Standby: 3~5 µA

  • Standard operation: 3~5 mA

The compact size of the breakout board makes it easy to integrate even into prototypes and small devices.

Applications

The set can be used for numerous applications, including:

  • Remote control of Arduino projects

  • Projects with Raspberry Pi

  • Robot control

  • Turning lights on and off

  • Control of electronic devices

  • Automation and prototyping

  • Infrared user interfaces
