One stands for the best known and most up-to-date model. The ATmega328 is used as a microcontroller. The controller has 14 digital inputs and outputs (6 of which can be used in PWM mode), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz mechanism, a USB socket (type B), a power supply, an ICSP connector and a button restore.
The board contains everything you need for microcontroller programming. In the third revision, an ATmega16u2 replaces the previous version's ATmega8u2 as a USB to serial converter. Simply connect your computer and card using a USB cable or use an external power supply or battery - and that's it.
This Uno model offers the DIP version (also DIL for Dual In-Line or Dual In-Line Package). This differs from the SMD variant by having a larger and easily replaceable microcontroller in the DIP container. This makes it much easier to replace a broken controller or insert an independently programmed microcontroller into your circuit.
