Its versatility is exceptional, as it allows you to have 3 devices in one: simply by changing the settings on the web page or the configuration program, you can communicate in RS232 on standard DB9 serial, RS485 and RS422 via convenient removable terminals. The converter supports all common RS232/RS485/RS422 communication settings (baud rate, stop bits, parity, etc.), allowing it to be adapted to any serial device via the web interface.
Ideal for working with any RS232, RS485, RS422 device such as scales, serial BUS, photovoltaic inverters, serial barcode readers, presence detectors, control units, electronic devices.
The device supports various operating modes:
· Client/Server mode with PC and COM port emulator
In this mode, the converter allows you to remotely connect a virtual COM port created on your Windows PC using the supplied software called VCOM. This allows you to use the software you normally use to communicate with your serial devices connected to the converter via the LAN or Internet.
Communication is always bidirectional like a standard serial port, and in RS232 and RS422 it is also FULL DUPLEX. In RS232, all signals of a standard DB9 serial port are supported, including control signals.
In server mode, the software on the PC creates the initial connection, contacts the converter in server mode, and initiates communication. In client mode, on the other hand, the converter attempts to contact a pre-registered IP address in the configuration window to initiate communication. These two modes are useful for avoiding any routers or internet users behind NAT.
· Client/Server mode with PC and direct TCP Socket connection
It allows you to communicate directly with the serial port via TCP socket. In practice, characters addressed to the open TCP socket will be forwarded directly to the RS232, RS485, RS422 serial port and vice versa.
There is the possibility of setting any send buffers with terminator characters to manage the communication and the data sending and receiving modes.

· Client/Server mode using two ATC 1200s (requires a second converter not supplied)
In this mode, two ATC 1200s can communicate directly without a PC or other equipment. For example, two RS232, RS485, or RS422 devices can be connected together, or two different interfaces can be used on the two devices. The communication mode is thus completely transparent and easy to use. The Ethernet network thus becomes a bridge between the two ports, extendable to a LAN and the Internet.

Each of the two converters can operate as a client or server. The converter configured as a client will attempt to connect to the IP address of the server converter preconfigured on the web configuration page. The ability to select which converter to operate as a server or client is useful for avoiding any routers or internet users behind a NAT.

The ATC-1200 is a highly integrated, low-cost Ethernet-to-Serial Converter (Device Server). It incorporates a single-cycle, per-instruction AX11005 RISC processor with a maximum operating frequency of 100 MHz (100 MIPS), 512 KB built-in Flash memory, and 32 kB SRAM data memory. It features a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port and a serial port with RTS/CTS hardware handshake.
The device can control devices with RS232/422/485 ports located virtually anywhere (via Ethernet or the Internet). It automatically detects devices in the network configuration through driver panels, the serial port, Telnet, web browsers, SNMP auto-switching between drivers, and in RAW mode.
Supports TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, IPv4, DHCP, BOOTP, ARP, DNS, SMTP, SNTP, uPNP and HTTP protocols.
The ATC-1200 represents a step up from the best-selling ATC-1000. This new second generation offers more advanced features at a slightly higher price. The result is a better, more reliable design that can be used for more applications and devices.
Thanks to the new processor, with better performance, lower latency and more features, the device has the following new functions:
Email Notifications
You can receive email notifications if a user cold starts the converter, if an authentication error occurs, if the local IP has changed, or if the password has been changed.
IP address restrictions
You can allow only specified IP addresses to connect to the ATC-1200.
Higher baud rates
Baud rates up to 921600bps for RS485/RS422.
Works best in virtual COM mode
The ATC-1200 is an industrial device server designed to connect devices with RS232/422/485 ports, such as CNCs, PLCs, electronic scales, scanners and other devices, directly to a 10/100Mbps Ethernet TCP/IP network.
In addition to enabling serial device networking, any host (PC server or workstation) can also access remote serial devices by adding an ATC-1000 to the existing serial port.
The device is equipped with Ethernet I/F on RJ45 connector, DB9M (DTE) connectors for connecting RS232 I/F and extractable terminals for RS422/485 connection. The converter is also equipped with surge protection on the RS422/485 interface.
Power can be supplied either through removable terminals or through a standard 9Vdc adapter (included) (jack 2.1mm).
The device is equipped with a web server, which allows it to be configured from a standard browser (e.g. Internet Explorer).
The device can be set for master or slave operation, allowing two devices to be independently connected to each other to remotely control a serial line over an Ethernet network (Paired mode).
The product comes complete with the following accessories:
