The MT8870 DTMF Decoder module allows you to recognize and decode DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) tones coming from a landline, mobile phone or other compatible audio source.
The circuit is based on the well-known MT8870 decoder and converts the received tone into a digital code available on the four outputs Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 .
The outputs can be easily interfaced with Arduino , computers, microcontrollers and digital circuits , allowing DTMF commands to be used within numerous control and automation projects.
The module can be used to create, for example:
DTMF control systems
Relay activators
Automation systems
Interfaces for Arduino and microcontrollers
RC Servo Control
Remote control systems
Electronic experimentation projects
Interfaces for alarm and signaling systems
DTMF tones are supplied to the module through a convenient 3.5mm audio jack socket .
The MT8870 decoder analyses the received signal and, when it recognises a valid DTMF tone, makes the corresponding code available through the digital outputs.
The module has four data outputs:
Q1
Q2
Q3
Q4
The STD signal is also available, indicating that a valid tone has been recognized.
There are 5 status LEDs , useful for directly viewing the operation and status of the outputs.
The module recognizes the standard numeric tones 0-9 , the symbols * and # , as well as the tones A, B, C and D , which are not normally available on standard telephone keypads.
